studierte Kunstgeschichte, Politikwissenschaften, Philosophie und Medienkunst an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, der Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (HfG) und der Universität Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne). Seit 2016 ist sie Leiterin der Abteilung Wissen – Sammlung, Archive & Forschung am ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medien Karlsruhe, für das sie seit 1999 tätig ist. 2002–2003 kuratierte sie außerdem zusammen mit Christian Schön die lothringer13/halle, die Städtische Kunsthalle Münch

Margit Rosen taught at the HfG Karlsruhe and the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Bejijing. In 2011 and 2013 she was a visiting professor at the Art Academy Münster. She teaches in the Master's program MediaArtHistories at Danube University Krems.
