The Tripoli Detachment was formed starting in January 1993, and received its Charter in May 1993. Meetings are held the second and forth Thursday of each month at 1830 hours (6:30) in Jonesboro, Indiana at the American Legion Post #95. Membership is open to all Marines and FMF Corpsman that wear the FMF device. At the present time, our membership total is 44 regular members and two associate members.

The Detachment has a Funeral Firing Detail that does Honors at funerals in Grant County Region for Veterans regardless of their branch of military service. Most of the funerals that we do are at the Marion National Cemetery but we also do local cemeteries as well.

Some of the activities that we take part in are taking wheel chair patients to church at the Marion VA on Sunday mornings; taking part in the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Marion National Cemetery along with placing flags on the veterans graves on the Saturday prior to Memorial Day and then retrieving the flags the day after the ceremony; Posting and Retiring the Colors at the Wreaths Across America Ceremony in December.
