The theme for the Media Architecture Biennale in 2016 (MAB16) is ‘Digital Placemaking’. MAB16 brings together architects, designers, artists, academia, government and industry in a shared exploration of how technology and digital media as part of a ‘Smart Cities’ approach can lead to more livable city environments.
MAB16 is held for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere, in conjunction with Vivid Sydney , the largest festival of light art, music and ideas, and the International Conference on Designing Interactive Systems ( DIS’16 ) in Brisbane.
