Description: Louisas’ art practice feed her hand block print patterns, which delicately dance over the blank fabric. Linen fabric is the canvas of her work with each block twisting and turning to make line patterns with hand-painted detail. Each run of fabric is unique, hand made and one of a kind.
Louisa was formally trained as a painter at Wimbledon school of Art, through her painting she pursues harmony of line, form and composition; all elements that influenced her current range of fabric designs. Taking inspiration from the traditional craft of block printing, one of the oldest methods of printing. Louisa uses simple geometric form and shape, embracing the nuances and subtle variation the process of block printing offers. Her patterns are finished with flecks of colour painted by hand.
