Loughborough is a beautiful, leafy town situated in Leicestershire. It’s home to an estimated 5,000 resident Muslims and a sizable student population served by two Mosques with a maximum capacity of just over 1,000 worshippers combined. Facilities for women and children are severely lacking, especially for communal activities; locals are forced to use facilities provided by Loughborough University which is straining relations between the Islamic Society and University Chaplaincy.
For these reasons, we’ve set up the Loughborough Muslim Centre; a Community Centre and hub where everyone would be welcome, irrespective of age, gender, background or belief. We building a place for the whole community especially a place where young people, women and children feel welcome.
