The Loni Beach Cottage Neighbourhood is a distinct residential area in the Rural Municipality of Gimli, nestled on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg in the heart of Manitoba. With a natural park-like setting and a delightful aura of cottage ambience, Loni Beach has been enjoyed by many generations of Manitobans. Dating to the turn of the 20th century, the Loni Beach neighbourhood has a rich history and distinct physical quality that makes it a vital part of Gimli’s heritage fabric.
A Statement of Significance for Loni Beach was developed by the Gimli Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (GMHAC) in conjunction with Manitoba’s Historic Resources Branch. GMHAC also produced the booklet, “ Loni Beach: A Gimli Heritage Neighbourhood ” and its report “ Gimli: A Camper’s Paradise ” has many references to Loni Beach.
