Lilian Bland (1878–1971) was an aeronautical engineer who designed, built and flew “The Mayfly” which was the first powered aircraft to be constructed by a woman in Ireland. Lilian was also a professional photographer, an author and an artist.
This project was started by Madeleine O’Rourke in order to compile all the available material about Lilian in one place. The site is being developed as a tribute to Lilian’s memory and to her achievements. Please bear with us as we load the content.
