Set in a snow-capped mountain range of a mythical 1920s Europe, a frail and dispirited inventor, Valentino, has given up on his ultimate invention, a flying machine. When he is attacked by Libitina, a fiend from the underworld, in the form of a giant, ghostly raven, Valentino, with the help of his mechanical hummingbird companion, Alida, who is powered by the sun, overcomes despair to complete his flying machine and escape.
