An incandescent lamp is an electric light with a special wire that being heated to such a high temperature that it starts to glow with visible light (incandescence), the wire is not exposed to air and is enclosed in a glass bulb filled with a special gas. These kinds of incandescent light bulbs have been around for ages, however lately the much more recent light technology relying on LED (Light-Emitting Diode) lamps have been the preferred choice by users as they offer a number of advantages.
With LED lights you get lower power usage for the same amount of light, much longer life span, better durability, instant light output, though there are some possible disadvantages as well that need to be taken into account. For instance LED lights are more expensive, there are some concerns regarding the blue light emissions, possible high frequency flickering, usage in hot places may be problematic due to overheating and others.
