Feng Shui (pronounced "fung schway") has been practiced by people of Chinese descent down through the ages. The practice of Feng Shui combines ancient Chinese wisdom with traditions of the Chinese culture and provides guidelines to be used for different situations or aspirations. Feng Shui is not a religious practice - but a mystical art. I like to think of it as an "applied science" as well.
When studying Feng Shui, one learns the importance of how positioning objects in the home or business can create a harmonious atmosphere. Depending upon each individuals goals, one may focus on certain areas of their life - such as family harmony, prosperity, marital bliss, good health, etc. In Feng Shui, these are called the Eight Life Aspirations. They really all go hand in hand with each other and one should not be excluded in favor of others.
Through my studies, I have learned that one cannot have "tunnel vision" when practicing Feng Shui. One must look at the big picture - and then work your way down from that. For example, it is important not to just focus on the primary goal you are aspiring towards. It is important that you create harmony in your total household and encourage positive chi (energy) to flow.
