Located in the San Gabriel Valley below the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, La Verne, California is a small city in Los Angeles County and a suburb of Los Angeles. The European history of the area known as La Verne dates back to the 1830s when Ygnacio Palomares received the Rancho San Jose land grant from the Governor of California in 1837, which included the present day city of La Verne among several others. In mid-1880s, the entrepreneur Isaac W. Lord purchased a tract of this land and began build
