Big River is situated 120 miles Northeast of Goose Bay in a truly remote, wilderness area of Labrador which is accessible only by float plane or helicopter. In this pristine setting, Big River offers exceptional fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon, Sea-Run Trout, and in mid August, Arctic Char. Guests can enjoy the option of the easy wading pools directly in front of the lodge, travel the scenic routes to the mouth of the river by boat, or take a short ATV ride or hike to the many other remarkable pools further
The lodge at Big River is situated at the first rapids on the river which is approximately five miles from the North Atlantic Ocean. This rapid area is the first obstruction encountered by the Atlantic salmon, Sea-Run Trout, and Arctic Char after navigating the five miles of relatively slow flowing river from the ocean. While the Atlantic salmon and Sea-Run Trout continue up stream for several miles to the spawning grounds, the first rapids is the extent of the up-river journey for the Arctic Char. The Salm
