Feeling ashamed, or as if something is unacceptable about us can be scary and overwhelming. These complex feelings are more prevalent than we may admit. It makes sense that our response is to bury, avoid, or resist them. Whether we are consciously aware of our pain, it can impact on our lives, causing us to repeat dysfunctional patterns, and shaping our relationships with ourselves and others. Unexamined feelings, thought processes, traumas, and assumptions can shape our response to life—down to our thought
