I begin each piece as an experimental journey, intuitively responding to the canvas, working alternatively with randomness and intent. The early stages of a painting involves large, loose brushstrokes and words. Fast and free at the start, and then slow and intentional as the composition develops. Covering the surface with multiple layers of paint. Some elements are enhanced and some are obscured, resulting in an atmospheric surface rich with emotion, spirit and luminosity.
The subject of my paintings range from North Carolina scenery and abstract landscapes to completely intuitive works of art. This seemingly broad scope allows me to celebrate the beauty of the world that surrounds us, and to also tap into my soul and express the spirit and joy that resides within.
