We’ve just published issue 09 of The Possible , the thought leadership magazine I edit for the global engineering firm WSP about cities and all the built and natural infrastructure that supports them.
The content covers some pretty disparate topics, but the unifying theme is the impact that urban life – and urban resource consumption – has on other places, near and far. Climate change is revealing previously hidden connections in natural systems, in trade networks and in the consequences of our actions. Today, we can vividly see how carbon emitted anywhere in the world presents an existential threat to us all, most urgently the frontline communities experiencing its first, worst effects.
