Kate Schnippering is an Executive Design Director at IDEO San Francisco, with a focus on software and creative technology. Kate brings ‘build to learn' imagination to complex, systemic design challenges. With teams, clients and partners, she harnesses design x technology toward achieving measurable, positive impact for human and natural systems.
At IDEO, Kate’s wide-ranging work thrives at the intersection of digital, physical, and human. Kate’s grown new teams at IDEO.org Nairobi, built a real-world ‘magic school bus’ that teaches rover engineering to middle schoolers on Mars, prototyped crowd-sourced self-teaching tools with Kenyan farmers, and created an experience for patients to partner directly with medical researchers in the study of rare diseases.
Kate has a B.A. in Computer Science and Studio Art from Dartmouth College, where she first began tinkering with paper, wire and electronics to build interactive peacock sculptures. Her spare time is spent among tall snowy mountains, or sailing her Catalina 36.
