Growing up on a farm in rural south central Wisconsin, Kari Arnett was experimenting with writing, playing, and singing music from a young age, including teaching herself to play piano. It wasn't until her early 20s that Arnett taught herself guitar and began performing as a traveling musician. She spent some time living in Baraboo, WI connecting to local musicians and subsequently moving to the Madison, WI area. In the summers of 2014-2016 Arnett lent her music skills and worked for Girls Rock Camp Madison ( https://www.girlsrockmadison.org/ ) as a band coach/manager where girls, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth ages 8-18 learn how to play instruments, form a band, write songs, and play in a showcase.
