I am a Professor of Linguistics at the University of Maryland . I direct the Project on Children's Language Learning and the Infant and Child Studies Consortium . I am also on the Executive Committee of the Maryland Language Science Center and the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Program .
Along with my students and collaborators, I examine syntax and semantics through several lenses - infants and children's language acquisition, cross-linguistic comparisons, and the interface between language and other systems of mind. This kind of research often requires a broad set of tools, and students working with me receive training in a wide range of methods from developmental psychology, language processing, formal syntax & semantics, and computational linguistics.
