IndiaWrites Publishers Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 company, was formed in 2006 to disseminate contemporary works of fiction rooted in the Indian ethos, including translations from Indian languages into English. India has more than 20 languages with distinct scripts and 2000 listed dialects, with a rich tradition of story telling going back thousands of years. The global community has access to only a tiny fraction of these remarkable works. Our mission is to support as many talented writers as we can.
From 2006 to 2010, IndiaWrites Publishers published a free monthly online magazine Literary Voices of India that translated works of writers in Indian languages. In 2010, the best stories were published as an anthology, 1947 Santoshabad Passenger and Other Stories , by Rupa & Co., one of India’s biggest publishers.
All proceeds from the sales of our books go toward supporting authors in pursuance of our mission.
