Hearing is a fundamental part of our experience. We use it for communicating with friends, avoiding danger, and finding pleasure in music and nature. Patients with hearing loss have trouble noticing and understanding important information, especially in noisy environments. As the population ages, hearing loss is only becoming more prevalent. Beyond problems in everyday life, it has also been linked to serious mental health problems, including depression and dementia.
