Heanor is a small hill-top market town in the southern, rolling foot-hills of the Pennine range of mountains. Heanor lies between the cities of Derby and Nottingham in the region of England called the East-midlands.
Heanor is set on a hill rising out of the gentle valley formed by the Erewash River which feeds into the river Trent.
The centre of the town is a market square. Markets are held on the mornings of Monday, Friday and Saturday. The once thriving market has been in decline for many years. The market square is overlooked by a 12th century church at which there is a Community Fair on the first Saturday of the month. Heanor is administered by Amber Valley Borough Council and Heanor and Loscoe Town Council
