Handi-Shop, Inc is a community-based organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities in a safe, supportive, and productive environment, which allows each person to achieve his/her highest potential and become as self sufficient as possible.
The Handi-Shop is a product of an idea from two local residents with handicapped children. Fred Lierheimer and Paul Bounds were concerned about the next step in life for their children who were about to finish school. After much research and volunteer hours, the Handi-Shop was incorporated in 1972. On June 4, 1973 the Handi-Shop opened its doors in the old Florsheim Shoe Company building in Mexico.
