Science journalism is an artform — where research becomes a story. A probe landing on another planet is transformed into an epic journey that leaves the reader on the edge of his seat. Volcanology is a window into a different realm. And climate change is a tale of scientists who face subzero temperatures, polar bears and crushing sea ice in order to gather unprecedented data. But while it is important to engage the reader, it is crucial to do so accurately.
I am a frequent contributor to Scientific American , The New York Times , Nature , National Geographic , Quanta , Sky & Telescope and others. Many of my stories have included my own photography and one was honored with the 2018 David Perlman Award for Excellence in Science Journalism.
I am a stickler for facts and correct grammar — two characteristics that have long-encouraged me to edit as well as write. Since 2018, I have been a contributing editor at Sky & Telescope and I welcome further editing projects.
