A Smashing Success! The Great Pumpkin Smash 2023
Thank you HP for an incredible inaugural Pumpkin Smash! We are grateful for all of our neighbors who came out to smash and toss gourds galore, it was a huge success. GGHP and the Park District of Highland Park welcomed over 150 visitors toting jack o lanterns, tiny home-grown gourds and 1 massive pumpkin!
After donning the required safety goggles, residents were invited to pummel pumpkins with huge mallets or baseball bats. Kids then got to launch the pieces at targets and hoops in the dumpster that will carry them out to the compost facility. They were helping to clean up in the process, it was win-win fun for everyone.
