"I'd thought about speaking before the Get Speaking workshop, but it had always seemed like a distant and frightening possibility. The workshop gave me a roadmap to actually doing it, from coming up with an idea to submitting my proposal to crafting a presentation. Talking to and learning from other women speakers also made me feel like I wasn't going it alone. I gave my first tech talk a couple of months later, and afterwards a woman came up to me to thank me for explaining a concept she'd never understood
