Description: Research, education and exploration by industry, academia and government on the geothermal resources of the Great Basin and western United States.
GBCGE researchers develop and refine techniques used to identify and evaluate geothermal systems. We develop detailed geological models for large regions of the Great Basin as well as localized study areas.
MS and PhD students in our program are trained in geoscience and engineering fields relevant to the geothermal industry. Our group hosts the National Geothermal Academy summer program and collaborates with other universities and community colleges.
Our group is dedicated to collecting, compiling, and synthesizing geoscientific data to map geothermal potential at both regional and localized scales. A range of geologic, geophysical, and geochemical exploration techniques are used to perform detailed analysis and assessment of regional resources.
