Gary Michiel Daverne, ONZM (born 26th January 1939 Auckland), is an internationally acclaimed, honoured and successful New Zealand musical arranger, conductor, director, composer and record producer, with many awards to his credit. He currently holds the title of Music Director Emeritus, of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra he founded in 1975 and remained resident music director/conductor for 35 years, retiring in 2010 handing the baton over to a younger maestro.
