collapsed Menu expanded On Instruction After a couple of years of trying to teach myself golf, I decided to get private lessons. I’ve had lessons in the past, I didn’t get as much out of the lesson, I think I took them too early or maybe the instruction wasn’t great. It was clear I didn’t not understand what I was being taught.
My advice beginners, which is what I wish I did, is not to take private instruction right away. Take group lessons and learn the basics, grip, alignment and the basics of the swing. Play for a year or two and just let your natural swing develop and get a feel for the game. Once you’ve done that you ‘ll be in a better position to get value from your private lessons.
