An international not-for-profit organization founded by accomplished inventor Dean Kamen in 1989, FIRST has a proven impact on STEM learning, interest, and skill-building well beyond high school. Alumni of FIRST programs gain access to exclusive scholarships, internships, and other opportunities that create connections and open pathways to a wide variety of careers.

FIRST is designed to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in programs to build STEM skills and foster self-confidence, communication, and leadership.​ FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is one of four subsections of FIRST and is the high school level of competition play. Each year a new game comes out that requires teams to build a new robot that can complete a new set of tasks. You can see the video for the 2022 game to the right.

The Fighting Pi is a FIRST Robotics Competition team based in Armada Michigan. Created in 2006, the Fighting Pi has continued to grow and expand over the last 16 years.
