It is a great pleasure for me to introduce the 66th annual FIEC Statistical Report and I would like to thank all the people from the FIEC Team and from our Member Federations who have contributed.
The report provides an overview of the developments in the construction industry in the EU in 2022 – a year full of significant challenges for the construction industry, namely sustained high energy and raw material costs.
Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine has significantly impacted global supply chains and reinforced global inflationary pressures. The EU’s economy is particularly exposed to the effects of the conflict due to its proximity to the war and dependence on Russian energy resources. In 2023, GDP increased by 3,5% and much slower growth is expected for next year.
