In John 17:4 Jesus prayed to God saying, “I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given me to do.”
What a profound statement! How many of us will be able to proclaim that with confidence at the end of our earthly journey? Answer: none of us. No one but Jesus could ever claim that. Jesus came to do something no one else could possibly do. We could not be perfect. We could not complete to perfection what God had intended us to do because we all sin and fall short of His glory. Only Jesus—our Savior—could accomplish this on our behalf.
