In writing and compiling this Diary, I would like to acknowledge the following people:
Firstly, my son, Mark, for accompanying me on this great adventure between 1978 to 1991. Many times, when we were in difficult situations, he sorted out some of the problems that arose. Secondly, my dear wife, Margaret. What can I say about her? There are not many men around, allowed to have a love affair with a mountain! From my early days, when I walked the fells alone, right up to the present time, she has been so understanding and tolerant of me, and has supported me in fulfilling my dream to achieve my goals.
