Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political and charitable organisations. Through participation in progressive ceremonies we make great men better by developing confidence and understanding based on the dearly held principles masonry is founded upon. It promotes high moral standards and helps its members to lead a good and fulfilling life within the world around us. .
History tells us that masons used to travel from Halifax to Haworth to take part in masonry at ‘Three Graces Lodge’. The journey there and back took considerable time and was considered a day out, although very demanding on time. Meetings were held in Halifax to discuss forming new Lodges in the area to save on time and travel. Eventually members were given permission to consecrate a Lodge in Halifax known as St. John’s Lodge. Numbers continued to grow and hence the formation of Facula Lodge.
Facula held its first Founders meeting on 12th January 1926 at Blackwall Masonic building, Halifax. Its mother Lodge is St. John’s at Blackwall and its grandmother Lodge is ‘Three Graces’ No. 408, where it all began. Branwell Bronte was reputed to be a member of Three Graces Lodge.
