Evvy specializes in environmental portraits taken in the subject’s environment or a place they choose. She often works on long term, socially relevant projects, creating portraits of the people whose lives have been affected by these events. She encourages each subject to include things which are meaningful to them in their portrait. The only constant is that she asks each person to look directly into the lens of her camera so that their eyes communicate directly with the viewer.
When working in Paris Evvy explored photographing objects as well as people. In these projects, she visually explored the significance lying beneath surface appearances.
Evvy uses black and white film, a medium format camera, and natural light. She does all darkroom work, creating individual, fine art silver gelatin prints. Her work is in private and corporate collections and has been exhibited in the US and Europe.
