Welcome to the website of the General Board of Examining Chaplains. The GBEC creates, administers and evaluates the General Ordination Examination for people seeking to be ordained in The Episcopal Church.
The GBEC wants to be informative and transparent about its ever-evolving mission and ministry. The GBEC of today is tightly run, electronically based, and communications oriented. It uses its own Standards and the latest in the field of psychometics to create, administer and evaluate the GOE. And the GBEC evaluates its own work internally and through external feedback from bishops, seminaries and psychometricians and other consultants so it can be responsive to the Church that it serves.
