Founded in March 2010, the English Vocal Consort of Helsinki (EVCH) is an ensemble of professional musicians dedicated to the performance of English repertoire from the Renaissance to the 21st century. The EVCH varies in size from three to six voices and performs sacred works by composers including Byrd, Tallis and Purcell, as well as glees and madrigals from the English Romantic tradition. The EVCH first came to prominence following their appearance at the Tampereen Sävel vocal ensemble competition in 2011. Since then they have given concerts around Finland, including performances at the Les Lumières , Urkukesä and Aurore festivals in Helsinki. The group has performed with organists Petros Paukkunen and Julia Tamminen, and in June 2014 gave a concert with the Portuguese ensemble Divino Sospiro .
