We open our doors. We extend hospitality to our neighbors. We save lives.
Here is how we do it. From November through March each congregation takes a turn hosting the shelter for one or two weeks. Each night volunteers from the congregations and the community at large cook and serve a hot meal and provide breakfast for the next morning and a carry-out lunch.
A paid overnight supervisor arrives at the meeting place at 8:45 pm. Adults who need shelter for the night gather there between 8:45 and 9 pm. They walk with the supervisor or are driven to the hosting location. At 6 am the next morning they return to the meeting place.
