On November 8 th , 2015 at 2:00 pm please join us to commemorate Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass at Emek Sholom Holocaust Memorial Cemetery. Our program will feature Ted Metzger and Dr. Waitman Beorn who will, respectively, reflect on the creation of Emek Sholom Holocaust Memorial Cemetery 60 years ago and discuss whether the foreshadows of the Holocaust are happening again. Each year, we hold a meaningful ceremony to reflect on the meaning of the Holocaust and its watershed event, Kristallnacht. This year, as we have done every year before, we invite all in the Richmond community to join us to honor the survivors of Holocaust, remember those who perished, and challenge the audience to fight the anti-semitism that is still occurring today.
As Emek Sholom Cemetery celebrates its 60th year and has grown in the past along with the Jewish Community, it continues to grow. This year, the Board of Directors purchased 128 new grave sites so that any Jew who chooses this historic spot as a final resting place may do so.
