0 ENTER THE WORLD OF EBB AND FLOW Studio Fine Art In the spring of 1997, my last semester at the San Francisco Art Institute, I had a profound, life changing experience in an art history class. The ancient history of Women Artists changed my perception of self. This work is the visual representation of that change and of my new way of looking at life and the human condition.
I've been exploring this body of work since 1997. It arose conceptually from my notion of the house as a metaphor for female experience, with walls as a metaphor for the body that contains that experience. Many of the symbols that I use are derived from the interior (or female) space of ancient cave sites; the materials I use are for modern house building; wood panels and topping compound, or drywall mud.
