Welcome to Eastern Airlines VA. We are a family of flight sim enthusiast who share a common fondness for Eastern Airlines. Our membership ranges from past employees of Eastern to folks that were born around the time of Eastern’s closing. We invite all virtual pilots to join us as we “earn our wings everyday”. Brief History of Eastern Airlines
In 1930, Clement Keys, owner of North American Aviation, changed its name to Eastern Air Transport. After General Motors purchased Eastern Air Transport following the Airmail Act of 1934, Eastern Airlines was born. In 1938, Eddie Rickenbacker acquired the airline and Eastern became one of the “Big Four”. Between 1975 and 1985 Frank Borman was president of Eastern.
