Deane grew up in Boston, and spent eight years in Los Angeles, during which time he earned his Master of Architecture degree from UCLA. While at UCLA, Deane studied under Neil Denari, Sylvia Lavin, Craig Hodgetts, Jeffrey Inaba, Hadrian Predock, Georgina Huljich, Heather Roberge, Roger Sherman, Dana Cuff, Richard Weinstein, Ben Refuerzo, Michael Osman, Kivi Sotamaa, and Benjamin Ball. He worked as an architectural assistant to Andrea Lenardin Madden at her Los Angeles firm a l m project from 2007-2011.
