Sociologist of technology
I am a PhD candidate at the University of California, San Diego in sociology and science studies. My dissertation looks at the commodification of free and open source software by looking at how free software went from being a counter cultural movement, to being the corner stone of today’s tech driven capital accumulation.
I am particularly interested in IBM’s turn to free and open source software in the late 1990s and how this paved the way for broader acceptance of the movement across the industry.
