Trans Am Crashes in Australia I hate seeing car crashes I really do, now when there is a Trans Am involved it kinda stings a little more. As the proud owner of a 76 Trans Am it would devastate me if I had hit something or heaven forbid someone hit me. 76 Trans Am Ignition Tumbler Gear Replacement Tools needed… Steering Wheel Puller, steering column lock plate retaining ring removal tool. Assorted flat and Phillips-head screwdrivers (The screws to remove the column housing can be a bitch) And a lock ring removal tool, however, I used a very thin flathead and a piercing awl (It was a pain in the ass but it worked) A nice pick and hook set works a lot better! So like many Trans Am/Camaro owners, our cars are basically old the plastic parts are becoming weak
