The data we pulled regarding most used filter groups and filters, and most successful filter groups and filters makes it pretty clear that certain filters are more useful to users than others. The idea for exposed filters is to only display a small subset of filters (likely most used or most successful), and allow users to expand the filter list to access all other filters. By displaying filters at the top of the search result, we’re also freeing up the right rail for other potential search tools.
Hypthothesis: By only displaying the most used filters, can users easily filter down results to help them find what they need, while also reducing cognitive load on search results page.
