The former is both a tool and theory for progressing science in a disciplining version-controled collaborating-competing landscape of silos. The latter is a technical aspect regarding the language of change - if you want to explain changed, you can only use the language of change. You have to get rid of all nouns and replace them with "verbing", at least for theorizing. It is this that necessitates the reimagining from the ground up!
For example, learning can be said to occur when an agent is observed to perform better in a new environment over time. This includes all the changes made by the agent to the environment. However, in open-form thinking, there are no individuated items learned, or things called knowledge - and it fact this learning is distributed within agent cognizing and throughout the environment.
