Concerts for Indigent Defense engages the public, through live music, to celebrate and support the U.S. Supreme Court’s unanimous 1963 opinion in Gideon v. Wainwright which declared the right to counsel a fundamental constitutional right.
CELEBRATING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF GIDEON V. WAINWRIGHT ON MARCH 18, 2023 WITH A NATIONWIDE MUSICAL CALL FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE
On March 18, 2023, musicians across the county will present “Concerts for Indigent Defense” to energize advocates, build power, and educate the public about the critical importance – and consistent neglect – of the constitutional right to a criminal defense lawyer. Concerts for Indigent Defense provides us all with a rare opportunity to strengthen the possibility of justice dispensed by criminal courts across the country – together.
