THE WORK OF THE TASKFORCE
The Colorado Vaccine Equity Taskforce exists to ensure that all groups – regardless of race, ethnicity, ability and other factors – have all the facts to make informed decisions about the safety of vaccines for their families, and to hold leaders accountable for ensuring access to these vaccines for all. Taskforce members represent a diverse collection of Coloradans working to ensure all communities have all the facts to keep their families healthy.
Denver resident Richard Casias, 82, gets his first injection of the Moderna vaccine Jan. 30, 2021. Servicios De La Raza in Denver put on the drive-through community clinic and vaccinated 600 people over three days. Casias said he would feel safer if more people would get the vaccine. “I’ve got friends who got sick, ended up in the hospital,” he said, “and within six, seven days, they were dead. They were gone.” His son, Steven Casias, accompanied him to the clinic.
