Computational Optimization and Innovation Laboratory was founded at Michigan State University in the early 2013. Our research interests include solving various types of Optimization Problems, Modeling, Machine Learning using Evolutionary Algorithms, Meta-modeling, Bi-level optimization and Innovization. At COIN we are interested in both the theoretical foundations and the application of these topics to Engineering, Sciences and Business. Our research group includes a diverse set of researchers from Computer

The Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization (EMO) conference was organized by Leiden University, Netherlands in 2023. COIN Lab had 4 paper acceptances in this conference. Santosh Kumar Balija and Ritam Guha presented their papers in-person in the conference, while Anirudh Suresh and Abhiroop Ghosh presented their papers online. The event was a huge success and Prof. Deb received a special issue on multi-objective optimization from the organizers on the occasion of his 60th birthday. More information about

Dr. Deb is going to give a lecture about machine learning methods and their use in optimization at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Germany on 6th February, 2023. The lecture has been advertised in a local Magdeburg newspaper named Volkstimme. The excerpt of the news is shown in the image in German Language.
