I love a good observation deck, so here are my favourites in Tokyo.
Lake Shikotsu (支笏湖) is about 1 hour by bus from Sapporo, and is the closest ice festival in Hokkaido outside of Sapporo when visiting for the Sapporo Snow Festival .
The Sapporo Snow Festival (さっぽろ雪まつり) has been held every year since 1950. 2021 will be the first year which it hasn't taken place.
