Teaching point : I hear the term “proper exposure” talked about a lot, as if there is only one exposure that is correct. In reality, the way you expose an image has a lot to do with what you’re trying to convey. They’re not a lot of bright tones in the above image. But it wasn’t a bright day, as you can probably tell. My “exposure” (and subsequent processing) can make the day look dimmer and drab, or it can make it look brighter and more “normal.” What I captured (and processed) is how the day felt to me.
We had someone who had to back out of this year’s special September workshop in Botswana, so there’s one shared-tent opening available . This workshop starts in Maun on September 22nd and ends in Victoria Falls on October 2nd. We use a small, chartered plane to cut down on some of the driving between camps. We’ll be hitting Xakanaxa, Xugana, Savute, Chobe, and Victoria Falls as we work our way from the Okavango Delta across to the Chobe River. It’s an interesting time of year when the animals are all moving
